Prayers For a Safe and Open Place

Responsive prayers by Kathy Couch, appropriate for use any Sunday during the Green Season.

We pray for the Universal Church, that it may thrive and grow in your world, creating a safe and open place for all your holy people.

May we faithfully serve you as we strive for unity.

Be with all those you anoint with your Spirit, that their teachings and actions will bring understanding and inspiration as we serve you.

May we be in your rhythm as we carry out your will with faith and love.

Lord, we pray for the leaders of this nation and every nation. May they guide the people wisely, using your examples of compassion, patience and encouragement to instill justice and health in our homes, communities, and throughout the world.

May we all be anointed with your loving Spirit.

Lord, we pray for our Planet Earth and all creation. May the diversity of our efforts bring health and healing to the land, air, and water, bringing back the natural beauty and restoring the sanctuary of your Kingdom.

May we trust in your guidance to restore our island home.

We pray for this community of faith, and for all our communities as we seek to serve you in all we do. Help us bring encouragement, balance, and health as we live, work, and play in our environments.

May God hear the desires of our hearts and the hopes for our communities.

We pray for the welfare of those we love: the sick, the needy, the poor in spirit, the confused, and the forsaken.

Be with us in the poverty of our lives, bringing comfort and help.

We ask your blessings on all those who are dying. Ease the pain and loneliness of their passing and joyfully welcome them into your loving arms. Comfort their family and friends, reassuring them they are not left alone.

May you answer our cries of distress.

Lord, we praise you for your love, your victory, and your promises that give us life, love, faith, and hope.

Thank you for loving us so much. Amen.
